Graphics Software Developers – Develop the New Generation of Training and Simulation Systems!   

 

We currently have the opportunity for Graphics Software Developers to be part of a team developing highly advanced training and simulation systems.  Our client, one of the nation’s premier Research and Development organizations, is the prime developer of a new generation of training and simulation systems to be used throughout the US Navy.  The trainers are designed to be a major advancement in current technology incorporating the latest state of the art in software, graphics and animation systems.

 

Our Client is sooking for an energetic, motivated, self starter for a technically sophisticated and challenging position performing advanced graphics programming for systems built on state of the art COTS equipment. Career advancement possibilities are limited only by your desire. If you have the ambition, Our clietn has the position. The successful candidate will lead a small team of software engineers developing software for a variety of naval training and simulation systems. All software is developed in a Unix/Linux environment, and written in C and C++, utilizing various software graphics packages. Software development will include designing, coding, unit testing, integration testing, and verification and validation testing. The candidate will develop sophisticated, real-time, user interfaces, including visualizations for complex 2D and 3D data sets. This is not an IT/database application/transaction processing type position. Work will include the development of new code and the maintenance of existing code. The candidate will plan and organize tasking for team members, monitor the progress and quality of team members work product, and provide technical support and assistance to junior team members.

 

To qualifcy, a Bachelors in Computer Science/Engineering or related technical degree is required (a Masters degree is desired). Continuing education in team leadership, program management or computer science is also desirable. 

 

Candidate must have 5 or more years of graphics programming experience in C and/or C++, under a Unix/Linux environment. Candidate must have experience with Motif, X-Windows, OpenInventor, or OpenGL, or equivalent graphics packages. Candidate must also be familiar with sound software engineering methodologies. Candidate must demonstrate a general commitment to excellence, a dedication to producing quality work results, and an ability to learn and apply new skills. Candidate must be able to work in a fast paced environment, adapt to changes in schedules, be courteous and professional when interacting with colleagues and customers, demonstrate a solid ability to identify and solve problems, plan and prioritize personal tasking, effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and be able to work successfully in a team environment. An active Secret level clearance is reguired.

 

The following skills are desired in the successful candidate: Java, Java applet and Web services development, real time programming, numerical simulations, underwater acoustic experience, and other graphics software packages. Additionally the successful candidate should exhibit good leadership skills, be able to take the initiative in team problem solving sessions, set realistic goals and objectives for self and others, provide guidance and instruction to team members, and be amenable to increased job responsibilities over time.

 

The position is located in the Bethesda, Maryland. Some travel is required. Our client offers a professional work environment and an outstanding compensation package.
