Software CM Specialists– Take Part in the Development of the New Generation of Training and Simulation Systems!
We currently have the opportunity for Software Configuration Specialists to be part of a team developing highly advanced training and simulation systems. Our client, one of the nation’s premier Research and Development organizations, is the prime developer of a new generation of training and simulation systems to be used throughout the US Navy. The trainers are designed to be a major advancement in current technology incorporating the latest state of the art in software, graphics and animation systems.
Our client is looking for an energetic, motivated, self starter for a technically challenging position, responsible for implementing software configuration management (SCM) at the project level, in support of submarine training systems development. Candidate will be involved with software identification, software builds, software development environments, change control process, managing the correlation between software products, off-line archival and retrieval procedures, baseline management, version control, and managing change sets. Candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining automated information management systems, designing technical and management-level reports, reporting software metrics, researching software development methodologies. Candidate will work on problems of diverse scope, administer company policies that directly affect subordinate employees, and recommend changes to unit or sub-unit policies. Frequent interaction will occur with outside customers.
To qualify candidates must have a Bachelors in Computer Science or related technical degree. Candidate must have 5 or more years of related experience, under a Unix/Linux environment, with programs that have multiple fielded builds and 10-20 developers contributing to the software baseline. Candidate must demonstrate a general commitment to excellence, a dedication to producing quality work results, and an ability to learn and apply new skills. Candidate must be able to work in a fast moving environment, adapt to changes in schedules, be courteous and professional when interacting with colleagues and customers, demonstrate a solid ability to identify and solve problems, plan and prioritize personal tasking, effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and be able to work successfully in a team environment. Candidate must possess an active DoD Secret level clearance. Ability to write scripts to automate CM tasks is desired.
The position is located in the Bethesda, Maryland. Some travel is required. Our client offers a professional work environment and an outstanding compensation package.
